What is Onam?

Onam is the biggest festival of Kerala, India, and the most important celebration for Malayalis around the world. It celebrates the legendary homecoming of King Mahabali and falls during Kerala's harvest season. Every year, Kairali Belgium Malayali Association brings Onam to Belgium so that the Kerala community here can celebrate their traditions together, far from home.

Onam Sadhya — the traditional Kerala feast

The heart of Onam is the Sadhya: a traditional vegetarian feast served on a banana leaf. Expect rice with an array of authentic Kerala dishes — sambar, avial, thoran, olan, pachadi and the much-loved payasam — a true taste of Kerala tradition, prepared and served the traditional way.
